Expanding Solidarity (Chapter 7)

Social and Global Justice by and for Architecture Workers

Where will you build solidarity? Who will you bring with you?

“How do you create solidarity across different sectors of labor? It becomes infinitely easier to do if your sector is already organized.”

Discussion guide

Theme: connecting architecture workers’ struggles to builders, tenants, disabled communities, climate movements and workers across borders.

  1. Which struggles where you live connect to the film: housing, climate, accessibility, racial justice?
  2. Where do architects, engineers and builders depend on each other, and where are we divided?
  3. How could our skills support a tenant union, a disability justice group or a climate campaign?
  4. What could you set in motion now that might only pay off for the next generation?
  5. Where will you build solidarity? Who will you bring with you?

Facilitator tip: ask people to name real groups nearby you could connect with.

“Certain changes might not happen within my lifetime, but… I might at least set something in motion.”
