ACSA Workshop —  Alternative Frameworks for Architectural Practice

On April 9, 2021, the T-A-L Cooperative Network led an online workshop with ACSA (Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture), exploring the potential of cooperative models in architecture. Watch the recording here:

The workshop was divided into three parts:

  • Part 1 provided an introduction to cooperatives and their social, economic, and political potential. A series of case studies looked at how cooperative models can leverage resource and knowledge distribution as alternatives to prevailing free-market modes in architectural practice, academia, and communities.
  • Part 2 invited attendees to discuss the possibilities of cooperatives in architecture and education, in six breakout rooms (ProPrac, Studio, Theory, Research, Practice).
  • Part 3 was an open forum, bringing together insights from the breakout rooms.
